Troubleshooting FAQs

  • To install the boAt Hearables app, you can follow one of the options mentioned below-

  1. Scan QR Code - The AD Supreme outer packaging box has the Hearables app QR code printed on it. Simply scan this code using your smartphone and the subsequent link will redirect you to the Google Play Store and iOS Store, as applicable.

  2. Google Playstore - Download the boAt Hearables app from the Google Play Store on your Android smartphone. (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.boAt.hearables&hl=en_IN&gl=US )

  3. App Store - Download the boAt Hearables app from the App Store on your iOS smartphone. (https://apps.apple.com/in/app/boat-hearables/id1592550875 )

  • After installing the app, follow the steps shown on the app to set up your account by entering your phone number, name, and email ID. Account setup is a one-time action.

  1. Turn on the Bluetooth on your media device.

  2. Log in to your account on the boAt Hearables app.

  3. Go to the “My Devices” section.

  4. Open the case lid. The earbuds will show up under the list of available devices with “Ready to Pair'' status. Follow the ‘Pull down to refresh’ option on the app if the device does not show up on the list.

  5. Tap the Nirvana Ivy name card and accept the pairing request pop-up notification on your media device.

  6. Tap the ‘Ok’ option on the pairing notification. You can also save Nirvana Ivy to your Google account for fast pairing in the future by clicking on “Save” and then “Set up”.

Congratulations! Nirvana Ivy is now connected to your media device with “Connected” status.

Note: Location access is required from Android 6 & above devices for the App to read the Bluetooth devices paired to the mobile phone.

  1. Pair Nirvana Ivy to your media device by following the process mentioned above.

  2. Go to the “Sound” tab on the Hearables app.

  3. Under the Sound tab, go to the “Spatial Audio” header.

  4. Switch between one of the three modes of listening available -

  • Tap ‘Off’ to turn off Spatial Audio and activate boAt Signature Sound

  • Tap ‘Fixed’ to experience fixed spatial audio without head tracking

  • Tap ‘Head Tracked’ to experience dynamic spatial audio that adapts to your head movements

Note - The last operational audio mode will be activated upon opening the app.

  1. Pair Nirvana Ivy to your media device by following the process mentioned above.

  2. Go to the “Sound” tab on the Hearables app.

  3. Under the Sound tab, the “Noise Cancellation” header has all the audio modes displayed.

  4. Select the mode of your choice depending on the level of noise cancellation required-

  • Tap ‘ANC’ to cancel external noise

  • Tap ‘Off’ to turn off ANC and Ambient modes

  • Tap ‘Ambient’ to have transparency towards your audible surroundings.

Note - The existing Noise cancellation mode on the product will be activated upon opening the app.

  1. Pair Nirvana Ivy to your media device by following the pairing process.

  2. Go to the “Sound” tab on the Hearables app.

  3. Under the Sound tab, the “boAt Equalizer” header has all the equalization modes displayed.

  4. Select the mode of your choice depending on the level of sound elements required-

  • Tap ‘Default’ to turn off equalization

  • Tap ‘Balanced’ to experience audio with boosted highs

  • Tap ‘Rock’ to experience preset Rock EQ mode

  • Tap ‘Classic’ to experience preset Classic EQ mode

  • Tap ‘Pop’ to experience preset Pop EQ mode

  • Tap ‘Club’ to experience preset Club EQ mode

Note – The last operational EQ mode will be activated upon opening the app.

  1. Check if Spatial Audio mode is turned off- Deactivate this function by sliding the toggle on the Hearables app to the “Off” state or long touch the left earbud CTC for 3 seconds. Please note that the boAt Equalizer function will not work when Spatial Audio mode is activated.

  2. Try factory resetting the device.

  3. Run the Smart Diagnostics function of the boAt Hearables app and check whether there are issues related to the earbud battery.

Note : Please note the Smart Diagnostics function in the app can only identify issues related to the firmware and not the hardware.

  1. Pair Nirvana Ivy to your media device by following the pairing process.

  2. Go to the “Sound” tab on the Hearables app.

  3. Tap the “Set Up Adaptive EQ” option to begin the process of setting up your customized audio profile for enhanced listening. On completing the sound personalization steps, the audio profile is created.

  4. After creating the audio profile, slide the “boAt Adaptive EQ” toggle to the ON state to activate your personalized sound profile. Slide the toggle once again in the opposite direction to deactivate Adaptive EQ.

Note - To modify the existing audio profile, tap the ‘Reconfigure’ option to start the sound personalization steps from the beginning.

Nirvana Ivy lets you customize existing touch functions to another from the list of available options from the Touch Tab.

  1. Pair Nirvana Ivy to your media device by following the pairing process.

  2. Go to the “System” tab on the Hearables app.

  3. Multipoint connectivity remains ON by default for keeping Nirvana Ivy connected to two media devices at the same time. Under the System tab, slide the “Multipoint Connectivity” toggle to the OFF state to deactivate the multipoint connection. Slide the toggle once again to ON to activate multipoint connection.

Note - By default, Multipoint connectivity remains ON in Nirvana Ivy.

  1. Pair Nirvana Ivy to your media device by following the pairing process.

  2. Go to the “System” tab on the Hearables app.

  3. Under the System tab, slide the toggle under the “In-Ear Detection” header to the OFF state to deactivate in-ear detection. Slide this toggle once again to ON to activate in-ear detection for auto play/pause of media.

Note - In-Ear detection remains ON by default in Nirvana Ivy.

  1. Nirvana Ivy features In-Ear Detection that pauses the media automatically when the earbuds are removed from the ears.

  2. Try the provided earmuffs in four different sizes – XS, S, M, and L, to find out your perfect fit as per your ear size for optimal In-Ear detection.

  1. Pair Nirvana Ivy to your media device by following the pairing process.

  2. Go to the “System” tab on the Hearables app.

  3. Tap the “Check For Updates” option under the “Software Update” header to check and update Nirvana Ivy to the latest firmware version, if available.

Note - If the product is updated to the latest available version, the app will show an alert on clicking the option -‘You already have the latest firmware version’.

  1. To reset Nirvana Ivy from your device, go to the Troubleshooting section “?” on the Hearables app.

  2. Next, tap the “Malfunctioning” sub-header in the Troubleshooting section.

  3. Click on the option “Reset My Device” to reset the earbuds.

Congratulations! Your Nirvana Ivy has been reset.

Nirvana Ivy will now show as “Ready to Pair” in the My Devices section. Follow the pairing procedure to connect the earbuds to your device.

To diagnose issues related to Bluetooth connectivity, mic, speaker, and battery, use the Smart Diagnostics function of the Hearables app.

  1. Tap the “Diagnose My Device” option at the bottom.

  2. Follow the instructions to start the smart diagnostics process.

  3. Click on “Let’s Go” to start.

  4. Complete all the steps one by one to check Bluetooth connectivity, mic, speaker, and battery functions.

  5. Click on ‘Done’ to finish diagnostics

  1. Check if the device is in pairing mode, indicated by alternating LED flashes on both the earbuds.

  2. Ensure that the device is in the range of Bluetooth (usually 10m) and if there are any obstructions in between.

  3. Clear all your pairing history and perform a fresh connection attempt.

  4. If it is a passcode issue then enter 0000 / 1234.

  5. Try to forget the earbuds from the device’s Bluetooth paired list, update the mobile software and if it still does not work, try factory resetting the product.

In the App :

  • Run the Smart Diagnostics function of the boAt Hearables app and check whether there are issues related to Bluetooth connectivity. Please note the Smart Diagnostics function in the app can only identify issues related to the firmware and not the hardware.

  1. Check to see if the device is in pairing mode indicated by alternate red and blue LED flashes on the master earbud and blue LED flashes on the slave earbud every 5 seconds.

  2. Check whether the boAt Hearables app on the media device is updated to the latest version. The app version can be checked from the Google Play Store for Android smartphones and from the App Store for iOS smartphones.

  3. Check whether the case lid is open, and the earbuds have been taken out.

  4. Check if the earbuds are in the range of the media device’s Bluetooth (usually 10m) and if there are any obstructions in between.

  5. Check to see if the media device being connected to supports Bluetooth connections.

  6. Check if the Bluetooth of the media device is turned ON.

  7. Check to see if the device being connected to has no software issues.

  8. Check to forget the earbuds from the device’s Bluetooth paired list, update the mobile software and if it still does not work, try factory resetting the product.

  9. Check whether closing the app and opening it again solves the issue.

  1. Check when both the earbuds are taken out of the charging case. The earbuds will enter Connection Mode indicated by alternating red and blue LED flashes.

  2. Place the earbuds in the charging case and then try using them again. Check if it connects automatically.

  3. Check and see if factory resetting the device works.

  4. Check if the pogo pins in the charging case and both earbuds are clean. You may do so by gently cleaning them using a cotton swab dipped in alcohol and try using them again.

  1. Check to see if the device has been properly charged first- Solid blue LED flashes on the case for 5 seconds to indicate that they are fully charged.

  2. Check to see if in-ear detection has been turned off on the boAt Hearables app and try inserting the earbuds in the ears again.

  3. Check if the voltage of the charger is correct for the charging case and if the lights on the bottom of the case are glowing to indicate the charge level.

  4. Check if the product was not subjected to any mishandling, broken wires or exposed to direct sunlight, or hazards like fire.

  • Check if restarting the device resolves the issue.

  • Check if there are any obstructions between the earbuds and the device and clear them, move the device at a closer range to the earbuds and see if it still affects it.

  • Resetting your airdopes usually resolves this issue.

To perform a reset on your Nirvana Ivy :

Note: Before performing a reset, go to settings and forget the device from your phone/laptop

  1. Place both earbuds inside the case in the correct orientation.

  2. While the earbuds are inside the case, press and hold the reset button located inside the charging case for 10 seconds.

  3. After successful factory reset: Red LED blinks quickly 5 times on both earbuds & the Red LED blinks quickly 5 times on the charging case

  4. Close the lid and then re-open it again after a few seconds.

  5. Perform a fresh connection attempt and enjoy!

Congratulations! Your Nirvana Ivy has been Reset.

Factory reset through the App :

  1. To reset Nirvana Ivy from your device, go to the Troubleshooting section “?” on the Hearables app.

  2. Next, tap the “Malfunctioning” sub-header in the Troubleshooting section.

  3. Click on the option “Reset My Device” to reset the earbuds.

Congratulations! Your Nirvana Ivy has been reset.

Nirvana Ivy will now show as “Ready to Pair” in the My Devices section. Follow the pairing procedure to connect the earbuds to your device.

  1. The boAt Hearables app shows all currently and previously paired devices in the ‘My Devices’ section.

  2. Once Nirvana Ivy is paired to your smartphone, the status gets changed to “Connected” in the thumbnail.

  3. Tap the thumbnail, to check whether both the left and right earbuds are connected or not. You can also check the battery level of both the earbuds

  1. Nirvana Ivy comes with In-Ear Detection

  2. This technology detects if the earbuds are inside ears or taken out. Choosing right size of earbuds is essential for in-ear detection.

  3. In-ear detection technology pauses music when earbuds are taken out of ear.

  4. If there is a problem of connectivity issues, please try using other earmuffs provided.

  1. To charge the earbuds, put the earbuds into the charging case in their correct orientation.

  2. During charging, purple LED on the case blinks for 5 seconds.

  3. Once the charging is complete, blue LED on case remains steady for 5 seconds

  • To charge the case, plug one end of the cable into the case and connect the other end to a computer or a wall adapter or a power bank.

  1. Check to see if the wire connected to the case is not broken. Use other wires and ensure that the charger being used is not of 9V or 12V as that will damage the case. The LED located on the charging case indicates the battery status of the case.

  2. To charge the case, plug one end of the provided cable into the case and connect the other end to a computer or a wall adapter. Red LED indicates charging and the LED turns off to indicate full charge.

Note:

  • The LED located on the charging case indicates the battery status of the case. Charging is indicated by red LED in case of low battery (<30%), white LED in case of 30-70% battery, and green LED when the battery level is more than 70%, on the charging case.

  • Once fully charged, the LED turns solid green.

  • Check if the pogo pins in the charging case and both earbuds are clean. You may do so by gently cleaning them using a cotton swab dipped in alcohol and try using them again.

  1. Check to see if the earbuds have been put inside the case in the right orientation.

  2. Check to see if the earbuds are completely charged or not- Purple LED on the case flashes 5 times to indicate they are being charged. Once the earbuds have been completely charged, blue LED on the case remains solid for 5 seconds.

  3. Check if the pogo pins in the charging case and both earbuds are clean. You may do so by gently cleaning them using a cotton swab dipped in alcohol and try using them again

In the App :

  • Run the Smart Diagnostics function of the boAt Hearables app and check whether there are issues related to the earbud battery. Please note the Smart Diagnostics function in the app can only identify issues related to the firmware and not the hardware.

  1. Charging through wall adapter – Specs of the adapter: 5V, 2A

  2. Charging through cable/wire – Standard cable: 35 strands @0.10mm diameter/strand

  3. Any other accessory can be used for charging the earbuds if the above norms are followed.

Note : Before using the earbuds for the first time, it is recommended to fully charge the earbuds as well as the charging case. Also, keep the lid of the charging case closed while charging.

  1. Go to the sound settings of your phone and set the equalizer to normal/ default/ zero/ none.

  2. Perform a factory reset.

  3. In case the earbuds have water droplets, use the blow dryer to dry out any water from a distance.

  4. If the earbuds are clogged with ear wax, simply clear the earbuds to restore the original sound.

  5. If your device still does not get fixed then perform a factory reset

In the App :

  • Run the Smart Diagnostics function of the boAt Hearables app and check whether there are any speaker-related issues. Please note the Smart Diagnostics function in the app can only identify issues related to the firmware and not the hardware.

  1. Please remove the earbuds from the charging case & remove the protective film on the earbuds.

  2. After removing the film, keep the earbuds inside the case & close the charging case.

  3. Open the charging case to switch on the earbuds.

  1. Check if the controls do not work while being connected to another device.

  2. Check if the media player being used supports such controls and if the controls do not function on call or with other media players.

  3. Check if the controls have been physically damaged or exposed to any hazards.

  1. Check if restarting the device resolves the issue.

  2. Try factory resetting the device

  3. Ensure that the connected device is within the Bluetooth range (10m) and there is no obstruction between the airdopes and the connected device

  4. Check if dust or ear wax has accumulated near or inside the microphone port and if there is no blockage on the microphone.

  5. If sweat or water has gone inside the microphone then try to clean it with a cotton swab dipped in mild alchohol.

In the App :

  • Run the Smart Diagnostics function of the boAt Hearables app and check whether there are issues related to the earbud mic. Please note the Smart Diagnostics function in the app can only identify issues related to the firmware and not the hardware.

  1. Check if your Airdopes model has IWP™ tech integrated.

  2. Make sure that you have paired the earbuds at least once before to the device you are trying to use IWP™ with.

  3. Check if Bluetooth is turned on for your media device and if it has Nirvana Ivy in the list of paired devices.

  4. Try factory resetting the device.

General FAQs

  • To automatically switch the earbuds on (Smart Power On), simply open the lid of the charging case when earbuds are kept inside.

To perform a reset on your Nirvana Ivy:

NOTE: Before performing reset, clear "Nirvana Ivy" from the pairing device history by forgetting the device.

  1. Place both earbuds inside the case in the correct orientation.

  2. While the earbuds are inside the case, press and hold the reset button located inside the charging case for 10 seconds.

  3. After successful factory reset: Red LED blinks quickly 5 times on both earbuds & Red LED blinks quickly 5 times on the charging case

  4. Close the lid and then re-open it again after a few seconds.

  5. Perform a fresh connection attempt and enjoy!

Congratulations! Your Nirvana Ivy has been Reset.

Factory reset through the App :

  1. To reset Nirvana Ivy from your device, go to the Troubleshooting section “?” on the Hearables app.

  2. Next, tap the “Malfunctioning” sub-header in the Troubleshooting section.

  3. Click on the option “Reset My Device” to reset the earbuds.

Nirvana Ivy will now show as “Ready to Pair” in the My Devices section. Follow the pairing procedure to connect the earbuds to your device.

  • Single tap the CTC on either earbud to answer an incoming call

  • Double tap the CTC on either earbud to end an ongoing call or reject incoming calls

  • Plug in the earbuds inside your ears to start playback and remove both to pause music. (OR)

  • Single tap the CTC on either earbud to play or pause a track.

  1. While playing music, double tap on the left earbud’s CTC to return to the previous track.

  2. While playing music, double tap on the right earbud’s CTC to skip to the next track

  • Volume can only be adjusted via phone/media devices

  • Voice Assistant cannot be activated using Nirvana Ivy.

  1. Long touch the CTC on the left earbud for 3 seconds to activate boAt 360º Spatial Audio.

  2. Long touch the left earbud CTC again for 3 seconds to deactivate boAt 360º Spatial Audio and switch to boAt Signature Sound.

  3. 360 Spatial Mode is disabled during calls & Mono mode

  • Long touch the CTC on the right earbud for 3 seconds to toggle between Normal (ANC OFF), Ambient, and ANC modes.

Note –

  1. By default, the Ambient Mode is active.

  2. The operational cycle is Normal (ANC OFF) Mode→ Ambient Mode → ANC Mode → Normal (ANC OFF) Mode

  1. Please note that both the earbuds can be used in Mono mode. Use Smart Power On for switching on the desired earbud.

  2. The selected earbud will automatically enter the connection mode indicated by alternate red and blue LED flashes.

  3. Turn on Bluetooth on your phone/media device and search for “Nirvana Ivy” to connect.

Note- You can only skip to the next track while using the right earbud or play the previous track using the left earbud in Mono (single earbud) mode.

  1. Switch the earbuds on; both the earbuds automatically enter the Connection Mode.

  2. Turn on the Bluetooth functionality on your phone/media device and scan.

  3. Search for ‘Nirvana Ivy’ and tap on the same for pairing & connect via Bluetooth.

  4. To switch to Stereo mode from Mono, simply take out the other earbud from the case. It will automatically power on and pair with the previously selected earbud, hence enabling Stereo usage.

  1. Nirvana Ivy comes with In-Ear Detection that will help in pausing the media when earbuds are taken out of ear. Earmuffs as per CX’s ear size are to be used to have optimal experience of In-Ear detection. This feature can be switched OFF from the boAt Hearables App.

  2. In-ear detection is enabled by default on Nirvana Ivy.

  3. You can use the boAt Hearables app to turn off or re-activate in-ear detection for your earbuds.

Nirvana Ivy can be connected to 2 devices at once. To enable this feature, following steps are to be taken:

  1. Switch on the Bluetooth on your first phone/media device and search for ‘Nirvana Ivy’. After the selection is done, the earbuds are paired with your phone/media device.

  2. Turn off the Bluetooth function of your first phone/media device. The earbuds are ready to be paired again.

  3. Now switch on the Bluetooth function on your second phone/media device. Scan and select ‘Nirvana Ivy’ to connect.

  4. Switch on the Bluetooth of the first phone/media device again. The earbuds are reconnected to the first phone/media device.

Congratulations! Your earbuds are now connected to both your devices successfully via Bluetooth.

Note- This feature can be switched off from the boAt Hearables app.

  1. Low battery (<30%) : Red light quickly blinks 3 times every 30 seconds

  2. Battery charge (30% - 100%) : Blue LED flashes 3 times when the case lid is opened

  3. Power On : Blue LED flashes for 1 second on opening the case lid

  4. Pairing Mode : Master earbud LED blinks red & blue alternatively & Slave earbud LED blinks blue every 5 seconds

  5. Pairing successful (1 time indication) : Solid blue LED flashes for 3 seconds

  6. If pairing not successful (In pairing mode) : If 5 minutes later, pairing is still not successful, then the earbuds will show solid red LED for 1 second and auto power off.

  7. Connected : Slowly breathing blue LED on both earbuds & No LED flash when media is playing

  8. Disconnected : Same as pairing mode

  9. Earbuds Charging : Purple LED on case blinks for 5 seconds when lid is closed

  10. Fully Charged : Blue LED on case is solid ON for 5 seconds when lid is closed

  11. Playing Music : All lights are OFF (But "Connected" status will remain)

  1. Our IWP™ technology allows the earbuds to connect to your phone if they have already been paired before instantaneously upon opening the case.

  2. Simply open the case and ensure that the Bluetooth is turned on for your media device, the buds will connect as soon as the case is opened without the need to take them out of the case first!

  • There is no special process to enable IWP™- simply follow the steps to first pair your Nirvana Ivy to your media device. Then upon subsequent usage, the IWP™ tech will be enabled and the earbuds will pair automatically to your previously paired media device if Bluetooth is turned on in your media device.

  • Nirvana Ivy does support 60 ms low latency for entertainment and casual gaming. But if you’re looking for professional gaming equipment, then Nirvana Ivy is not the right product.

  1. No, the earbuds do not have any integrated volume controls on them. The volume has to be controlled using your connected Bluetooth device.

  2. Ensure that in the Bluetooth settings of your media device, you have enabled syncing of Bluetooth and phone volume levels otherwise you may not be able to fully control the volume of the earbuds as intended.

  • No, the voice prompts are integrated inside the earbuds and there is no provision to turn them off or lower their volume.

  • While your earbuds do have IPX5 water and sweat resistance, it is recommended that they are not submerged inside water directly or used for prolonged periods inside water like for swimming/showers, as it may lead to damage.
