Troubleshooting FAQs

  • To install the boAt Hearables app, you can follow one of the options mentioned below-

  1. Scan QR Code - The Nirvana Ion ANC Pro packaging box has the Hearables app QR code printed on it. Simply scan this code using your smartphone and the subsequent link will redirect you to the Google Play Store and iOS Store, as applicable.

  2. Google Playstore - Download the boAt Hearables app from the Google Play Store on your Android smartphone. (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.boAt.hearables&hl=en_IN&gl=US )

  3. App Store - Download the boAt Hearables app from the App Store on your iOS smartphone. (https://apps.apple.com/in/app/boat-hearables/id1592550875 )

  • After installing the app, follow the steps shown on the app to set up your account by entering your phone number, name, and email ID. Account setup is a one-time action.

  1. Turn on the Bluetooth on your media device.

  2. Log in to your account on the boAt Hearables app.

  3. Go to the “My Devices” section.

  4. Open the case lid and take out Nirvana Ion ANC Pro. The earbuds will show up under the list of available devices with “Ready to Pair'' status. Follow the ‘Pull down to refresh’ option on the app if the device does not show up on the list.

  5. Tap the Nirvana Ion ANC Pro name card and accept the pairing request pop-up notification on your media device.

  6. Tap the ‘OK’ option on the pairing notification. You can also save Nirvana Ion ANC Pro to your Google account for fast pairing in the future by clicking on “Save” and then “Set up”.

Congratulations! Nirvana Ion ANC Pro is now connected to your media device with “Connected” status.

  1. Pair Nirvana Ion ANC Pro to your media device by following the process mentioned above.

  2. Go to the “Sound” tab on the Hearables app.

  3. Under the Sound tab, the “Noise Cancellation” header has all the audio modes displayed.

  4. Select the mode of your choice depending on the level of noise cancellation required-

  • Tap ‘ANC’ to cancel external noise

  • Tap ‘Default’ to turn off ANC and Ambient modes

  • Tap ‘Ambient’ to have transparency towards your audible surroundings.

Note - The existing Noise cancellation mode on the product will be activated upon opening the app.

  1. Pair Nirvana Ion ANC Pro to your media device by following the pairing process.

  2. Go to the “Sound” tab on the Hearables app.

  3. Under the Sound tab, the “boAt Equalizer” header has all the equalization modes displayed.

  4. Select the mode of your choice depending on the level of sound elements required-

  • Tap ‘Default’ to turn off equalization

  • Tap ‘Pop’ to experience preset Pop EQ mode

  • Tap ‘Rock’ to experience preset Rock EQ mode

  • Tap ‘Custom’ to customize the sound elements to your preference

Note - ‘Default’ mode remains activated upon opening the app.

  1. Pair Nirvana Ion ANC Pro to your media device by following the pairing process.

  2. Go to the “Sound” tab on the Hearables app.

  3. Tap the “Set Up Adaptive EQ” option to begin the process of setting up your customized audio profile for enhanced listening. On completing the sound personalization steps, the audio profile is created.

  4. After creating the audio profile, slide the “boAt Adaptive EQ” toggle to the ON state to activate your personalized sound profile. Slide the toggle once again in the opposite direction to deactivate Adaptive EQ.

Note - To modify the existing audio profile, tap the ‘Reconfigure’ option to start the sound personalization steps from the beginning.

Nirvana Ion ANC Pro lets you customize existing touch functions to another from the list of available options.

  1. To reset Nirvana Ion ANC Pro from your device, go to the Troubleshooting section “?” on the Hearables app.

  2. Next, tap the “Malfunctioning” sub-header in the Troubleshooting section.

  3. Click on the option “Reset My Device” to reset the earbuds.

Congratulations! Your Nirvana Ion ANC Pro has been reset.

Nirvana Ion ANC Pro will now show as “Ready to Pair” in the My Devices section. Follow the pairing procedure to connect the earbuds to your device

  1. Pair Nirvana Ion ANC Pro to your media device by following the pairing process.

  2. Go to the “System” tab on the Hearables app.

  3. Under the System tab, slide the “In-Ear Detection” toggle to the OFF state to deactivate in-ear detection. Slide the toggle once again to ON for activating in-ear detection.

Note - By default, In-Ear detection remains ON in Nirvana Ion ANC Pro.

  1. Pair Nirvana Ion ANC Pro to your media device by following the pairing process.

  2. Go to the “System” tab on the Hearables app.

  3. Multipoint connectivity remains ON by default for keeping Nirvana Ion ANC Pro connected to two media devices at the same time.

  4. Under the System tab, slide the “Multipoint Connectivity” toggle to the OFF state to deactivate the multipoint connection. Slide the toggle once again to ON to activate multipoint connection.

Note: By default, Multipoint connectivity remains ON in Nirvana Ion ANC Pro.

  1. Pair Nirvana Ion ANC Pro to your media device by following the pairing process.

  2. Go to the “System” tab on the Hearables app.

  3. Tap the “Check For Updates” option under the “Software Update” header to check and update Nirvana Ion ANC Pro to the latest firmware version, if available.

Note: If the product is updated to the latest available version, the app will show an alert on clicking the option -‘You already have the latest firmware version’.

To diagnose issues related to Bluetooth connectivity, mic, speaker, and battery, use the Smart Diagnostics function of the Hearables app.

  1. Tap the “Diagnose My Device” option at the bottom.

  2. Follow the instructions to start the smart diagnostics process.

  3. Click on “Let’s Go” to start.

  4. Complete all the steps one by one to check Bluetooth connectivity, mic, speaker, and battery functions.

  5. Click on ‘Done’ to finish diagnostics.

  • You can view the user manual of Nirvana Ion ANC Pro under the “System” tab of the Hearables app. Go to the ‘User Manual’ section and tap ‘Know More’ to access the manual.

  1. Check to see if the device is in pairing mode indicated by alternate red and blue LED flashes on the master earbud and slave earbud LEDs slowly flash blue twice for 5 seconds.

  2. Try factory resettingthe device.

  3. Ensure the device is in the range of Bluetooth (usually 10m) and if there are any obstructions in between.

  4. Check if the device being connected to supports Bluetooth connections & it does not have any software issues.

  5. In case it is a passcode issue then enter ‘0000’.

  6. Check to forget the device from the Bluetooth paired devices list, update the mobile software.

  7. Check if the pogo pins in the charging case and both earbuds are clean. You may do so by gently cleaning them using a cotton swab dipped in alcohol and try using them again.

In the App:

  • Run the Smart Diagnostics function of the boAt Hearables app and check whether there are issues related to Bluetooth connectivity. Please note the Smart Diagnostics function in the app can only identify issues related to the firmware and not the hardware.

  1. Check when both the earbuds are taken out of the charging case. The earbuds will enter Connection Mode indicated by rapid white LED flashes on the master earbud and slowly breathing white LED on the slave earbud.

  2. Place the earbuds in the charging case and then try using them again. Check if it connects automatically.

  3. Check and see if factory resetting the device works.

  4. Check if the pogo pins in the charging case and both earbuds are clean. You may do so by gently cleaning them using a cotton swab dipped in alcohol and try using them again.

Resetting your airdopes usually resolves this issue

To perform a reset on your Nirvana Ion ANC Pro:

NOTE: Before performing reset, clear "Nirvana Ion ANC Pro" from pairing device history by forgetting the device.

  1. Place the earbuds inside the case in the correct orientation.

  2. While the earbuds are inside the case, long press the Reset button located outside the case for 10 seconds.

  3. After successful factory reset: White LED blinks quickly 5 times on the Charging Case; White LED blinks quickly 5 times on the Earbuds.

  4. Close the lid and then re-open it again after 5 seconds.

  5. Perform a fresh connection attempt and enjoy!

Congratulations! Your Nirvana Ion ANC Pro earbuds have been Reset.

To perform a reset through the App:

  1. To reset Nirvana Ion ANC Pro from your device, go to the Troubleshooting section “?” on the Hearables app.

  2. Next, tap the “Malfunctioning” sub-header in the Troubleshooting section.

  3. Click on the option “Reset My Device” to reset the earbuds.

  4. Congratulations! Your Nirvana Ion ANC Pro has been reset.

  5. Nirvana Ion ANC Pro will now show as “Ready to Pair” in the My Devices section. Follow the pairing procedure to connect the earbuds to your device.

  1. Check to see if the device is in pairing mode indicated by rapid white LED flashes on the master earbud and slowly breathing white LED on the slave earbud.

  2. Check whether the boAt Hearables app on the media device is updated to the latest version. The app version can be checked from the Google Play Store for Android smartphones and from the App Store for iOS smartphones.

  3. Check whether the case lid is open, and the earbuds have been taken out.

  4. Check if the earbuds are in the range of the media device’s Bluetooth (usually 10m) and if there are any obstructions in between.

  5. Check to see if the media device being connected to supports Bluetooth connections.

  6. Check if the Bluetooth of the media device is turned ON.

  7. Check to see if the device being connected to has no software issues.

  8. Check to forget the earbuds from the device’s Bluetooth paired list, update the mobile software and if it still does not work, try factory resetting the product.

  9. Check whether closing the app and opening it again solves the issue.

  1. The boAt Hearables app shows all currently and previously paired devices in the ‘My Devices’ section.

  2. Once Nirvana Ion ANC Pro is paired to your smartphone, the status gets changed to “Connected” in the thumbnail.

  3. Tap the thumbnail, to check whether both the left and right earbuds are connected or not. You can also check the battery level of both earbuds.

  1. To charge the earbuds, put them into the charging case in their correct orientation.

  2. While charging, the white LED on the case flashes for 1 second.

  3. Once the charging is complete, charging case automatically switches off to save power and the LED indicator turns off.

  • To charge the case, plug one end of the cable into the case and connect the other end to a computer or a wall adapter or a power bank.

  1. Check to see if the wire connected to the case is not broken. Use other wires and ensure that the charger being used is not of 9V or 12V as that will damage the case.

  2. To charge the case, plug one end of the provided USB Type-C cable into the case and connect the other end to a computer, power bank, wall adapter, etc.

Note: The LED located on the charging case indicates the battery status of the case. White LED flashes for 1 second to indicate charging state and white LED remains solid ON to indicate full charge.

  1. Check to see if the earbuds have been put inside the case in the right orientation.

  2. Check to see if the earbuds are completely charged or not.

  3. Once the earbuds have been completely charged, white LED on the case turns OFF.

  4. Try cleaning the pogo pins (charging pins) of the earbuds with an alcohol swab / use a cotton dipped in alcohol spirit. Once the pins are cleaned, put them inside the charging case and shut the lid. Now open the lid and check if the earbud LEDs start to blink.

In the App:

  • Run the Smart Diagnostics function of the boAt Hearables app and check whether there are issues related to the earbud battery. Please note the Smart Diagnostics function in the app can only identify issues related to the firmware and not the hardware.

  1. Before using the earbuds for the first time, please fully charge the earbuds with the charging case lid being closed.

  2. Charging through wall adapter – Specs of the adapter (Output Only): 5V, 2A

  3. Charging through cable/wire – Standard cable: 35 strands at 0.10mm diameter/strand

  4. Any other accessories could be used for charging the earphones if the above norms are followed.

  1. The connected device (phone/laptop) does not have any equalizer settings applied. Go to your system's sound/audio settings and set the equalizer to normal/ default/ zero/ none.

  2. Factory reset the device.

  3. Try to move the Airdopes closer to the connected phone/laptop and all obstacles in the middle should be removed.

  4. Disabling the equalizer also works when the distortion happens on different media players and different devices or only on specific ones.

  5. Check if the earbuds do not have water droplets, in case they do, use a blow dryer from a distance to dry out any water.

  6. Check if the earbuds are clogged with ear wax, and if so, simply clean the hearing net of the earbuds with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol to restore the original sound.

In the App:

  • Run the Smart Diagnostics function of the boAt Hearables app and check whether there are any speaker-related issues. Please note the Smart Diagnostics function in the app can only identify issues related to the firmware and not the hardware.

1. Go to the sound settings of your phone and set the equalizer to normal/default.

2. In case the earbuds have water droplets, use the blow dryer to dry out any water from a distance.

3. If the earbuds are clogged with ear wax, simply clean the hearing net of the earbuds with alcohol swab to restore the original sound.

4. If your device still does not get fixed then perform a factory reset

In the App:

  • Run the Smart Diagnostics function of the boAt Hearables app and check whether there are speaker issues. Please note the Smart Diagnostics function in the app can only identify issues related to the firmware and not the hardware.

  1. Check to see if the device has been properly charged first- A solid white light on the earbuds will turn off to indicate that they are fully charged.

  2. Check to see if in-ear detection has been turned off on the boAt Hearables app and try inserting the earbuds in the ears again.

  3. Check if the voltage of the charger is correct for the charging case and if the lights on the bottom of the case are glowing to indicate the charge level.

  4. Check by opening the lid of the charging case (with the earbuds inside) to power on the earbuds. The white LED should flash for 1 second.

  5. Check if the product was not subjected to any mishandling, broken wires or exposed to direct sunlight, or hazards like fire.

  1. Check if the controls do not work while connected to another device.

  2. Check if the media player being used supports such controls and if they controls do not function on call or other media players.

  3. Check if the controls have been physically damaged or exposed to any hazards.

  1. Our IWP™ technology allows the earbuds to connect to your phone if they have already been paired before, instantaneously upon opening the case.

  2. Simply open the case and ensure that the Bluetooth is turned on for your media device.

  3. The earbuds will connect as soon as the case is opened without the need to take them out of the case first!

  1. Check if restarting the device resolves the issue.

  2. Factory reset the device.

  3. Check if dust or ear wax has accumulated near or inside the microphone port, there is no blockage on the microphone. If yes then clean it with an alcohol swab.

  4. Check if sweat or water has gone inside the microphone.

  5. Check if there are any obstructions between the earbuds and the device and clear them, move the device at a closer range to the earbuds and see if it still affects it.

In the App:

  • Run the Smart Diagnostics function of the boAt Hearables app and check whether there are issues related to the earbud mic. Please note the Smart Diagnostics function in the app can only identify issues related to the firmware and not the hardware.

General FAQs

POWER ON:

  • Smart Power On : To automatically switch the earbuds on (Smart Power On), simply open the lid of the charging case when earbuds are kept inside.

  • Manual Power On : To manually switch the earbuds on (Manual Power On), long touch the Capacitive Touch Control (*CTC) for 3 seconds on both earbuds. This is indicated with solid blue LED for 2 seconds followed by a tone prompt.

Power OFF:

  • Smart Power Off :

  1. After usage, remove both the earbuds from your ears.

  2. Place the earbuds back into the charging case in correct orientation and close the case lid.

  3. Red LED remains on for 2 seconds followed by a tone prompt. The earbuds will automatically switch off (and enter charging mode).

  • Manual Power Off:

  1. Long touch the Capacitive Touch Control (*CTC) on both earbuds for 5 seconds (one at a time) till the earbuds get turned off, to manually switch off the earbuds.

To perform a reset on your Nirvana Ion ANC Pro:

(Note: Before performing a reset, go to settings and forget the device from your phone/laptop )

  1. Take out the earbuds from the charging case.

  2. Long touch the Capacitive Touch Control (*CTC) on both earbuds for 5 seconds, one at a time, to perform reset. This is indicated by the red LEDs on both the earbuds rapidly flashing 5 times.

  3. Place the earbuds inside the charging case in the correct orientation. Close the case lid and wait for 5 seconds.

  4. Open the case lid and perform a fresh connection.

Congratulations! Your Nirvana Ion ANC Pro has been reset.

In the App:

  1. Place the earbuds inside the case in the correct orientation.

  2. While the earbuds are inside the case, long press the Reset button located outside the case for 10 seconds.

  3. After successful factory reset: White LED blinks quickly 5 times on the Charging Case ; White LED blinks quickly 5 times on the Earbuds

  4. Close the lid and then re-open it again after 5 seconds.

  5. Perform a fresh connection attempt and enjoy!

Congratulations! Your Nirvana Ion ANC Pro earbuds have been Reset.

  1. Put on both earbuds to answer an incoming call OR

  2. Single tap the Capacitive Touch Control (*CTC) on either earbud to answer an incoming call

  • Double tap either earbud’s Capacitive Touch Control (*CTC) to reject an incoming call or end an ongoing call

  1. Plug in both earbuds inside your ears to start playback and remove them to pause music. (OR)

  2. Single tap the CTC on either earbud to play or pause a track

  1. While playing music, double tap on the left earbud’s Capacitive Touch Control (*CTC) to return to the previous track.

  2. While playing music, double tap on the right earbud’s Capacitive Touch Control (*CTC) to skip to the next track

  • Volume can only be adjusted via phone/media devices.

  • Tap the right earbud's Capacitive Touch Control (*CTC) 4 times to activate Voice Assistant.

  • Activate the High-Resolution Audio by enabling LDAC from your phone Bluetooth settings.

Note:

  1. Activating LDAC will disable Multipoint connectivity and boAt Adaptive EQ. You can enable these features by switching the audio codec to AAC or SBC.

  2. Streaming audio in LDAC mode might reduce the playtime of your earbuds.

  3. Please refer to your phone’s user manual for instructions on how to activate LDAC.

  • Long touch the Capacitive Touch Control (*CTC) on the right earbud for 2 seconds to toggle between Normal (ANC OFF), Ambient, and ANC modes.

Note:

  1. By default, the Ambient Mode is active.

  2. The operational cycle is Ambient Mode (Default) → ANC Mode → Normal (ANC OFF) Mode

  • Long touch the left earbud's Capacitive Touch Control (*CTC) for 2 seconds to switch between Bass Mode and Balanced Mode.

  1. Please note that both the earbuds can be used in Mono mode. Use Smart Power On for switching on the desired earbud.

  2. The selected earbud will automatically enter the connection mode indicated by rapid white LED flashes.

  3. Turn on Bluetooth on your phone/media device and search for “Nirvana Ion ANC Pro” to connect.

Note:

  • You cannot activate ANC and Ambient modes in Mono mode.

  • Wear detection features for calls and ANC are applicable only in Stereo Mode.

  1. Switch the earbuds on; both the earbuds automatically enter the Connection Mode.

  2. Turn on the Bluetooth functionality on your phone/media device and scan.

  3. Search for ‘Nirvana Ion ANC Pro’ and tap on the same for pairing & connect via Bluetooth.

  4. To switch to Stereo mode from Mono, simply take out the other earbud from the case. It will automatically power on and pair with the previously selected earbud, hence enabling Stereo usage.

  • Nirvana Ion ANC Pro comes with In-Ear Detection that will help in pausing the media when earbuds are taken out of ears. Earmuffs as per CX’s ear size are to be used to have optimal experience of In-Ear detection. This feature can be switched OFF from the boAt Hearables App.

Nirvana Ion ANC Pro can be connected to 2 devices at once. To enable this feature, following steps are to be taken:

  1. Switch on the Bluetooth on your first phone/media device and search for ‘Nirvana Ion ANC Pro’. After the selection is done, the earbuds are paired with your phone/media device.

  2. Turn off the Bluetooth function of your first phone/media device. The earbuds are ready to be paired again.

  3. Now switch on the Bluetooth function on your second phone/media device. Scan and select ‘Nirvana Ion ANC Pro’ to connect.

  4. Switch on the Bluetooth of the first phone/media device again. The earbud is reconnected to the first phone/media device.

Congratulations! Your earbuds are now connected to both your devices successfully via Bluetooth.

Note: This feature can be switched OFF from the boAt Hearables App.

  1. Low Battery (<20%) : Red LED blinks 3 times when the case lid is opened

  2. Battery (30% - 100%): Solid white LED flashes when the case lid is opened

  3. Power On: White light is ON for 1 second on opening the case Lid

  4. Pairing mode: Rapid white LED flashes on the master earbud and slowly breathing white LED on the slave earbud.

  5. Pairing successful (1 time indication): White LED flashes twice on both earbuds

  6. If pairing not successful (In pairing mode): If 5 minutes later, pairing is still not successful, then the earbuds LED will auto power off.

  7. Connected: White light flashes twice quickly on both earbuds; No LED flash when media is playing.

  8. Disconnected: The same as pairing mode: White light flashes on both earbuds.

  9. Earbuds Charging: LED on case stays white

  10. Fully charged: LED on case turns OFF

  11. Play the music: All lights are OFF (But "Connected" status will remain)

  12. Factory Reset: White LED blinks quickly 5 times on the Earbuds

  1. Our IWP™ technology allows the earbuds to connect to your phone instantaneously upon opening the case if they have already been paired before.

  2. Simply open the case and ensure that the Bluetooth is turned on for your media device. The earbuds will connect as soon as the case is opened without the need to take them out of the case first.

  • There is no special process to enable IWP™- simply follow the steps to first pair your Nirvana Ion ANC Pro to your media device. Then upon subsequent usage, the IWP™ tech will be enabled and the earbuds will pair automatically to your previously paired media device if Bluetooth is turned on in your media device.

  • No, the voice prompts are integrated inside the earbuds and there is no provision to turn them off or lower their volume.

  • No, the earbuds do not have any integrated volume controls on them. The volume must be controlled using your connected Bluetooth device.

  • Ensure that in the Bluetooth settings of your media device, you have enabled syncing of Bluetooth and phone volume levels otherwise you may not be able to fully control the volume of the earbuds as intended.

  • Yes, Nirvana Ion ANC Pro is integrated with 2 mics per earbud.
